Phyllocrania paradoxa made it to adulthood

I have successfully raised my first Ghost Mantid from L3 to adult. I wanted to thank the forum for all the help and information. I learned a lot from just searching and reading posts here. This Ghost was very easy to raise. Started him in fruit flies until they were too small then moved on...

typical enclosures for northern sticks and molting questions

I was wondering what type of enclosures are commonly used? Do most people keep them in 5/10 gallon terrariums? Does the rule of 3xs length for height of enclosure apply? I assume they need more room to move than mantids? Do they molt as often as mantids? thanks,

    Got wings!

My first mantis (Stagmomantis californica) I had since L1 spouted wings. My records show she is now L8 unless I missed a molt. Do wings appear at the last molt or is there one more? Here are some pictures taken 3 days after the molt and you can see the wings are not laying flat. Is this normal?

ghost hanging to low for molt?

My L5 Ghost is due for another molt but is hanging from a low stick with his head about an inch about the bottom of the enclosure. I'm worried he does not have enough height to molt correctly. He is overdue and has been sedentary for 2 days. Should I try to move him to the lid where he...

    What is this bug?

Found a few of these guys in an Italian cypress in my yard (Orange County, CA) I have no idea what it is. Sorry for the blurry pics. It has 2 long antennae and it walks with it's front legs up in the air. The 3 I found were all the same size and brown in color.

    Ghost miss-molt

found my L1/L2 on the bottom of the enclosure this morning. His brother molted fine 2 days ago. I picked him up and he is stil alive but his back end looks dried out. He did'nt have any skin hanging so guessing molt didn't start right? I tried to put him back on the screen but he is not able...
