Hello from Minnesota!!

Hello all,

I'm going to get a few mantids. Looking for one that is hardy and easy to maintain. What is a good mantid to start out with? Any good books you recommend? I have some idea and notes from what I have read and seen. Just would like some feedback.

Welcome to mantidforum Inca73 (Spencer)! I have read that Creobroter sp., Sphodormantis sp., Hierodula sp., Rhombodera sp., Phyllocrania paradoxa (Ghost Mantis) are good beginner mantises. Although.. there are very many mantises that are easy to raise.

Orin has written a nice book Keeping the Praying Mantis.

I've been raising mantids now for about four years. Others from Minnesota who join the forum don't seem to stick around too long. I hope you do.
