hi may name is scott my mantiss is an african 1 and with me its shed 2 times but now when i opend the hach at the top to open and feed, it whent nuts rocking left to right fast and fell off the top and ran up the side of the tank. and when i put hand on the top of the tank he looks at it fast and rockes agin what is it is it ready to breed

Mantids will not breed until they are adult, which for you, is in 5-6 more molts. Rocking from side to side is normal. Part of it is kind of a 'mating dance', and sometimes they do it when they hunt.

ty i will introduce my slef, he is very agervated thow it there a problem he normal dont care when i feed him, i mean he fell off the top and ran up the side fast and never done that be for

He gets more skittish during this stage. Nothing to worry about.

I think rocking from side to side is also an imitation of foliage blowing in the breeze, another aspect of Camouflage.

You just spooked your mantid and it produced a healthy reaction.

any sergesions on how i can move him to his new place his in bout 9inch hiy and 10in wide his new place is over a foot in each way, i have held him wonce and after a few secons i was trying to stop a very fast mantis run off my hand lol at ground level lol

will he do more things as he gets older as i feed him etc,

any good books or web site to go to i have read loads of web pages on him they gust cover how to keep him not his behaver or sexing

and i have read that it will go gray ish be for molting but on his second with me he has his wings now they grow this time he didunt change clour infacted it was such a serprise i nearly took the food out.
