I am going to be starting a project to build a light/heat system for my Mantids

I see several of the stores sell these lamps that are supposed to help with insect/reptile health

are they really needed, I am having good success with the Mantis feeding thanks to the help available here on the forum I watched five of them chowing down on crickets last night and they are all molting regularly.

have two ten gallon tanks and a couple of garage sale 2.5s any advice on this project would be appreciated oh yes i am thinking of incorporating some solar panels to help cut down on energy bills so if you have any experience with these i would enjoy hearing from you.

Thanks

Roy

No special lighting needed. External heat is usually not needed for most species save except for a few like gongy who prefer to be hot.

Thanks guys

I have older ranch style house which does get down to the 50s without heat
