I was feeding my mantids a couple of minutes ago and I put a cricket in my L7 Chinese mantids cage and waited. Well he was hanging on the top of the cage and spotted the cricket. My male literally jumped about three inches from the top of the cage to a leaf that is almost on the bottom of the cage and caught the cricket. (Blown away  ) I was literally saying out loud don't do it because you're not going to catch it! (as if he could understand me (everyone talks to their mantids, right?! lol)) But I thought that was pretty cool! We have to make a sport out of this! lol

Haha! My nymphs can get intimidated by grasshoppers and annoying, ram-into-you-incessantly flies.

Sounds more like dropping. :stuart:

:shifty:

Sometimes you get amazed at what the will do to catch their prey.

I had a ghostie that would crawl under a stick to snatch flies above.

And my latest Idolomantis had terrible depth perception so she would strike at prey to far away.

I mostly talk to my mantids when they molt. "Please don't fall!" :)
