One of my last two mantises ran away. Fortunately, it was the crippled one who ran away. I can't find it anywhere! Anyway, do you guys have any stories of mantises running away?

i left the feeding hole in one of my deli cups open which contained a Hierodula membranacea male, it seemed he wanted to get away from this meal so much that he just made a dart for it. i was looking for him for ages putting myself in the mind of a mantis...where would i go etc. Anyway i gave up, he'd been lost for about 5 days, then the other day when i was cleaning out my scorpion cage, there he was sitting behind a bowl i use to keep substrate in. He was perfectly ok just been sitting there in my relativly cold room. crazy little guy perked up again as soon as i put him near a heat mat.

thats what i thought but strangely this bowl that i had was on the floor and he was just hanging underneath the rim of it

I always keep big mantids like african or dead leaf free in the room for copulation. I have a small room and even though I always have problems to find males after running away after they've done their part :)

I often find these big fellows only when they are once more attracted by the females :)
