I was reading through the law itself about exotic pet ownership in my home state of Nevada. They had a list of things I can't have, many of them were fish and amphibians. It didn't mention a single thing about insects. If it doesn't mention it, does this mean that it is legal to own here? I wish I could have found more just to be sure.

Maybe try to contact your state agricultural office?

I'll do that instead, thanks. I asked the Police Department but they just said "I have no idea." Apparently this isn't a very common request.

I've lived in Nevada for 10 years and never had a problem with owning mantids, even those not naturally occurring in Nevada. Granted I never asked about the legality of it all, but no one seemed to care. You need some desert specialists to survive the deserts of Nevada. Luckily L. minor and I. oratoria are already found there. I've also known 2 vegas members on the forum that owned a large array of exotic mantids My recommendation is to not bring attention to yourself by asking.
