I have a sub-adult Religiosa that went through a difficult moult. After molting refused to eat for nearly a week (usually they eat again after 2-3 days), and one of the forearms is paralyzed so that the mantis has a difficult time catching prey (in my experience band moults are more common when they are overfed so that they moult more often, in this case there was only 6 days between the latest moult and the previous). I don't see any evidence of injury, the damaged arm looks green and healthy, except that it folds up improperly, and there's the obvious problem it doesn't move so that the mantis is forced to catch pray with the other arm only.

When the mantid swings for small prey such as houseflies, it totally misses, and when it catches larger prey like grasshoppers, it tends to get them by the leg or antennae and slowly reel it in whith a high chance of dropping it.

Is this going to resolve on its own or is it always going to have a paralyzed forearm?
