Refrigerate

Is it safe to refrigerate mantids? I've seen it done with other insects to keep them alive longer without food, and when you warm them back up they're fine. But I've never tried it with mantids.

Don't do it i think it would harm them.

I certainly wouldn't reccomend it. It would just slow down their metabolism, and they would die.

You can do this with some ootheca species, however.

Most species would survive a very short period but they'd die quicker from cold temperatures than from starving to death. Try hamburger or banana if you're out of food for a short time.

We stick our Mantids in the freezer when theyre dying to make it quicker, so I wouldnt suggest refrigerating them.
