Have you ever seen this one ? Im thinking thats chinese praying mantis but im a noob. Maybe theres someone with good german language skills who can translate this one fully, becouse i understand just like half of it. I have never thought that Mantid (chinese) will "tolerate" other one, they just look like ther were thinking.

That was pretty good. Those are not chinese mantids. I wonder though if the vid wasn't staged a bit. Never seen a mantis go back and pick up a half eaten insect. Was still entertaining though. :D

I just did. Now, the cricket was still moving and all, but what happened is I fed Angel a cricket, he ate the abdomen, and then dropped the cricket because he reached the contents of its hindgut (i.e. the poo)- they always seem to form a little ball that they can't quite chew on, for some reason, and Angel thought there was no longer any edible substance in his grasp. He drops the cricket, which proceeds to crawl away, and then gets caught again. I kinda wish I filmed it... it was funneh. All that was left was the crop, a leg, the hindgut and some antennae.

I think the crop is avoided just because it is encased in an organ that isn't easily penetrated by the mantis' mandibles. I found that if I fed a cricket that had been caught by the thorax with the forceps (I try not to, since it paralyzes them sometimes and requires me to then directly feed it to the mantis) grabbing it tight enough that it burst the crop, the crop is also eaten.

Wow! First time see M.religiosa chasing it's prey at a run and then 'sharing' with another one! Awesome! Thanks!

That's how they must look when raising in captivity!
