wormwood can and is dangerous esp if eaten or taken so just avoid ingesting it and keep others away from it!Also Absinthe is banned in many countries.

The chemical in wormwood (Artemisia absinthium) that causes neurotoxicity is thujone. Like many other toxic substances it may not cause problems in very small doses.Absinthe was banned because of the seizures and other evidence of neural damage that occur with chronic consumption (and are separate from effects of alcoholic use). In a number of countries where products containing wormwood are currently legal, there are strict limits on the amount of thujone they can contain. Some types of wormwood are apparently less toxic, but consuming any wormwood product on a continual basis is inviting trouble. But dont think a mantis would be harmed maybe unless it ingested the substance!

Anything that chases pests out of your garden will deter mantises from remaining there ;)

I've noticed orchid mantises eating orchid petals, but I suspect your mantis will resist its termite tendencies (they are related) and avoid the wood. In situations like this, I always say try it...and let us know how it goes! I always give a bug the benefit of the doubt.

I had (psuedo-?) absinthe in Seattle, recently. A black licorice lover, it was disappointing.

AHAHHAHA Gee guys sorry! I don't have any absinthe! I just have dried out wormwood leaf that I bought from an herb store that I keep near my mealworm bins to keep away grain mites... That seems to work... and have read that it can be grown or sprinkled in your garden to deter aphids and such... I just hatched 3 chinese ooths on a totally organic vegetable garden, but they either decided to move on, got eaten or there are just too many aphids for them to keep up with.... I also have some wormwood oil I could possible rub on the bricks around the garden...
