    Libata ooth hatch

I was wondering if they needed air holes! I'm glad you said something before it was too late haha. I took the time to make their enclosures breathable. This should also make it easy to add moisture to the sponges.

    Libata ooth hatch

So I went to the pet store this morning and picked up a culture of flightless drosophila flies for them. I put a few flies in each of their small habitats and most of them went straight to feasting! Their habitats are 3x3 tupperware containers from the dollar store with a scrub sponge hot glued...

    Libata ooth hatch

So my big stagmo laid a fertile ooth before she died and it just hatched. There's at least 30 of these little guys and I have no idea how I'm going too feed them all. Any suggestions? Also, how cannibalistic are the limbata species? Is it recommended to keep them together?

    Found a big green mantis!

So she's laying her ooth right now. Is there any way to tell if it is fertile or not?

    Found a big green mantis!

She is very clumsy when moving, she typically drags her abdomen, as well. She is also not very good at climbing most surfaces because she is missing the (pardon my lack of terminology) long grabby thing at the end of her right raptorial and it appears that she cannot move the one on her left...

    Found a big green mantis!

Having released my Mantis Religiosa back into the wild a few weeks after she reached adult, I have been without a mantis for quite some time. Yesterday, on my way into the country club, I found one of the largest mantids that I have ever seen in person. I excitedly collected her. I believe she...

I'm sure this video has been discussed before, but I couldn't find where and I must know what this is and how this happens. Thoughts?

    Finally captured a large-ish mantis!

Not sure what to feed this gal, though... Having a hard time finding large enough prey for her.

    Finally captured a large-ish mantis!

haha, thanks everyone! I thought it was male because of how slim it is, but I don't know much about it, so I'm glad to hear from more knowledgeable members!

    Finally captured a large-ish mantis!

Not entirely sure what the species is, but it looks like a male. Found it hanging out between my screen door and sliding glass door this morning. I fed him a small grasshopper that I found outside. Seems to be a sub adult, it looks like his wings are starting to come in. Any input on...

    Metallyticus violaceus hatch

Any idea where these species are native to? I live in southern California and I can almost swear that I saw one of these the other day. Like you said, built more like a roach than a mantis, but now that I've seen these I'm second guessing my initial distinction upon seeing it...
