    Poecilotheria metallica

They start to blue up around the 4th instar, much more on the 5th. As for making sure its a P. metallica it looks to be there is only one other pokie with a carapace like this and it has broader or longer white bands than span the legs at 2 leg segments. Pretty sure their metallica but you can...

    Staple Diet

As far as diet a varied diet of captive feeders, wild caught flies, moths, roaches, crickets, silkworms, and others or a mix would do better but if you must focus just on flies make sure they are properly gut loaded to ensure some level of nutrition for the mantis.

    how risky

Most D. lobata are imported ooth hatched, Ive actually seen few people able to continuously breed them over the yrs. We have seen hatches well into the 200's out of them. It wouldn't be a stretch to say lobata ootheca are the most imported of any species here. Most seem to find it easier to buy...

    how risky

Well the sad truth is pretty much every mantid here was brought in this way, so the stories of endless seizures and DOA shipments are just a piece of the story, could be people not wanting the competition here, could be people bought from the wrong person, but every single nonnative species here...

    Info on pain

Science is always progressing and republishing updates. I would wager we can't yet truly understand or identify the stimuli correctly that would test this for sure, Everything, every species even populations in a species react differently to the same stimuli. Some animals may be more pain...

    Metallyticus splendidus and Metallyticus violaceus

I loved mine, what has been your primary diet on these guys? I was pretty successful tossing in BB with the wings torn off. Should add in I also fed them firebrats, small dubia and crickets but they took to the fightless BB best. Michael

should i get a Hadrurus arizonensis Desert Hairy Scorpion

They are nocturnal so like the emperor expect them to remain hidden and lazy all day. You will need plenty places for them to burrow under and hide. They are a nice species, biggest north American species and not that dangerous but the sting isn't fun but it is bearable.

That's what vendor feedback is for, if its a big deal to know who to and not to buy from use this section for more than posting your own feedback on....actually read it and keep up on it all. Starting a blacklist or even publicizing people especially in other countries where feedback is already...

    Cooking stuff

I cooked my hand medium rare on a pizza pan today saving my lunch. Didn't smell or taste near as good as the pizza.

    Dissappointing

Sounds like you need to focus on gut loading, increased feedings and variety. Not sure of temperature/climate if they actually hold a place in the natural growth rate but I do expect they will not only be small but short lived as adults. Same issues with reguards to trying to slow males and keep...

    Neotropical Mantis (formerly mantisdeperu)

In places like Africa, South America and others where they can swap out pay card accounts and other as fast as you send money there is little paypal can do. They do not have to verify email, id or address like we do. I have had friends lose thousands of dollars sending exporters payments for frogs.

    mantisplace/Rebecca

Just for the record, Black and Golden Hydei are the same size, they are both very inbred strains in order to breed for both flightless and the color. In the temps described the heatpack issue was completely understandable infact I can tell you they will not make priorty shipping alive without...

    Tolerance WILL NOT be tolerated

What am I implying? You have no idea what I'm even saying do you A? Because fact is if your killing yourself over responses to something you post on a public forum its clear there were problems already. I am saying why bring it here when you can talk about these subjects on forums that are made...
