    Hello from Texas

Welcome. I got into mantids after finding and photographing a couple in Texas back in 2010. I kept them for 7 years but my schedule at this time doesn’t allow time for me to keep them now.

Just a mom raising kids and bugs!

Welcome. That last pic is great. I live in Minnesota and at the moment am only raising Cecropia.

Planning a trip to Colorado in August to photograph moose.

    New to the forum.

Welcome. I kept and bred mantids for seven years but do not currently have any. I love orchids too but that was one species I was never able to breed. I had several species over the years and loved most.

    On Royal Wings

Nice! I have around 97 Cecropia cocoons to hatch. I will let a bunch of them go.

    Non-Mantis related hobbies

Thank you. It’s been so long since I took that photo of that mantis. I really don’t remember.  I used to do aerial photography. I would charter a plane and hire a pilot. That was back when I worked in IT. Nowadays I mostly do wildlife photography.

    Non-Mantis related hobbies

My favorite thing to do is wildlife photographing. I spent a lot of time walking in the woods and sitting in a blind waiting for critters. I also enjoy traveling. I’ll be going back to some of my favorite places this year...Theodore Roosevelt National  Park, Rocky Mountain National park, and...

    2019 Calendar?

Hi all, It seems as if every year there is less interest for a calendar. And fewer buy them. The forum doesn’t profit from the sale of the calendars. It just didn’t seem worth the time it takes.  If there seems to be enough interest I’d be willing to try again.

    Calendar?

Hi Sticky. I posted the guidelines for the calendar. We will put one together if there is enough interest. So if you can help generate interest it would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello from Minnesota

JettyDoor, I have Florida bark mantis that I've kept going for 1.5 years or so. At one time I had 25 species at one time and hundreds of enclosures. After the holidays I'd like to get another species or two.

Hello. I live in Minnesota! I've been keeping mantids for seven years, but at the moment I only have one species.

    Something killed all my mantises

So sorry this happened. I think you've already gotten a lot of advice. I raise my own mealworms and use them as emergency food and an occasional treat for mantids that like them. I haven't had any issues with them. I did, however, lose a couple of mantids that I fed wax worms. They were ones I...

    Phil?

Thanks for letting us know Yen. Phil was very active on the forum when I first joined, and I got two of my favorite species of mantids from him. We became friends but drifted apart after he left the hobby. I do miss him and his contributions.
