T.C.'s Hierodula membranacea (Giant Asian Mantids)

Hello all, figured I would just share some pictures of my current mantids, Hierodula membranacea. Here is one of the female nymphs eating a spider. She has such a strange color compared to the others I have seen. All the males are bright green. https://i.imgur.com/Tnt3WFz.png...

[For Sale] GTG, Hierodula membranacea male and female

Hello, I have 2 Hierodula membranacea nymphs. A male and female. L4's. I'm just a hobbyist and don't really breed them or sell to make profit. I have a few others and these two I just don't need and to be honest, I won't be able to feed once it starts getting colder out. I have feeder insects...

    Aggressive easy species of mantis

Hi, I'd recommend H. membranacea. Got a few of them yesterday. They actually will jump or run right up behind a bug and eat it. Very cool to watch. I got mine from a member here that goes by CherylDeWit.

    Murder by Sparrow

Haha, well can you really blame the birds? Easy catch. And that's not a sparrow, it's a house wren. Those things eat bigger things like grubs, grasshoppers, etc. despite their small size. Which is why they go for your mantids. I don't let mine "sun" but if it was me I'd put them in a mesh tent...

Guys you have to look at this please

Cool. A buddy of mine was letting his mantis climb on his desk at work. His hung off one of the cabinets and molted. I'll have to see if I can get the pictures from him.

    Ants and isopods

Hello, I have fed ants to my mantids in the past and it doesn't seem to be a problem. Are they safe though? Nutritional enough. Also how about isopods? Would that be a safe food? I doubt they would eat them, but has anyone tried?

Community Mantids - Back at it again

Hey loops! Didnt know you were active here.  Why don't you just stick with ghost mantids? There is lots of other bugs you could put in a communal tank. Do you REALLY need to have two mantid species in there?

    Any of you feed grasshoppers?

Hi, I was curious about breeding grasshoppers for mantid food as they aren't smelly and noisy unlike crickets. IIf you guys know a way to fix noise and smell i'd appreciate some tips.Do any of you have experience culturing grasshoppers and do they breed enough to get plenty grasshopper nymphs...

    Mantis breeding questions?

Hi, I will be getting some Hierodula membranacea mantids here soon. I am curious though  once their mature enough to breed, do they only have to mate once. I read they can have many egg cases. Also, what's the chances the female dies afterwards?
