    Experience with Peruvian Leaf Mantis

Hi everyone,         I got a Peruvian Leaf Mantis from Panterra pets on 4/18. I think it's still an L3 according to Sarah. I named him/her Inca (real original, I know!?) I love the colors: green and brown bands on the legs, and the markings on its back. Does anyone have experience with these...

    Sarah K (PanTerra Pets)

Hi again. I ordered a Peruvian Leaf Mantis from Sarah. It arrived on time but had mismolted. She agreed to give me a replacement for which I only had to pay shipping. From now on I will choose the fastest delivery option. I got the replacement a few days ago and it is doing fine! Again, Panterra...

A month ago I ordered some housefly pupae from Josh's Frogs, and non of the hatched. I gave up trying and pitched them in the end. On the other-hand, I got a live culture of hydei ffs from them back in March that's still going. I won't order pupae from the again!

    My Mantids

That's a beautiful mantis. I've been keeping mantises for less than 3 months. I'm not ready for orchid mantis yet, but I really look forward to getting one when I feel qualified. -- Bob

    My new ghost mantises

Nice picture too. Are you the owner of Spooky? I notice that their antennae wiggle really fast! What do you take pictures with? Do you do macrophotography? Bob

    My new ghost mantises

I finally got a chance to take some photos of my new ghost mantises. They are SO fun to watch. I have a short video too, but it might be too big to post. I took these with my Dino-Lite digital microscope. I think I finally have their habitats under control: steady temp, humidity. I worry about...

    Sarah K (PanTerra Pets)

On March 21, I received my order of 5 ghost mantis nymphs and a L2/3 Hierodula venosa. They arrived on-time, well-packaged, and all alive and well, and she included an extra ghost nymph. I also order spray bottles and sphagnum moss. I later also ordered deli cups. I am greatly pleased with...

Greetings from a new mantid parent

Oh, not insulting at all. Glad for the information. It was not molting this morning, and when I got home from work at around 8, that is how I found him. There didn't seem to be any skin or molt remnants. It's possible it's not done. But I'm curious how often this "mis-molting" happens. Thanks, Bob

Greetings from a new mantid parent

Hi everyone,         I'm sorry to report that my other Chinese mantis mismolted. I found him/her hanging upside down from the mesh on the lid of the container. That's 2 I've lost. I'm feeling sadder than I expected. I was thinking of ordering some ghosts, and maybe another good starter mantis...

Thanks for that info. How do you mount it? DO you use one of those domes? What wattage? Thanks, Bob

Greetings from a new mantid parent

Thanks for everyone's condolences. Right now, I'm having trouble keeping the temperature up. I have a 5-gallon aquarium, and inside that I have the mantis in a plastic jar with some eco earth and branches, about the recommended size or larger. I have a heat lamp that keeps the whole tank warm...

Greetings from a new mantid parent

Well, unfortunately, the smaller L2 mantis I had did not molt correctly and died. How often does this happen? Bob

Greetings from a new mantid parent

Hi everyone. I'm brand new to keeping mantids. I "adopted" my first pair about 3 weeks ago. A friend from work, well, his wife came across a female Chinese mantis in her yard late last fall. She brought it inside and it promptly created an ootheca. I thought they were going to let it...
