    Hysteresis' Mantis Stream - 2019

Aw man hopefully he will be ready next time. I brought a bigger mesh cube just for the purpose of breeding. I think the 30cm cubes might be too small for bigger species

    Charoozz's Mantis Collection

Well I guess I spoke too soon about the wings...she was fine for two days after the molt I even got some nice pictures: But then on Saturday she spread out her wings and has been in this position ever since. It's almost like her wings are permanently stuck in airplane mode and she can't...

    Charoozz's Mantis Collection

@MantisGirl13 yes I do, surprisingly the Male is taking longer to molt than the female he just molted to sub last week.  Now I have to power feed him so he can catch up!

    My Mantids

Congrats!! She's beautiful!! Mine females are currently L5/L6 so two more molts to go! Mine is pretty much pure white like yours, any idea what causes them to be more pink/more white?

    Charoozz's Mantis Collection

Just a quick update, the female thistle molted to adult successfully! I was so nervous since @hysteresis seem to have a lot of trouble with them. I think you might be right about using substrate. I have a layer of coco fiber topped with sand. Will get better pictures this weekend, she's gorgeous.

    Crestie!!

@MantisGirl13 sorry it's been a hectic week for me, but congrats on the cutie!! She looks young so the pores might not be present yet if she turns out to be a boy. I agree that it is a harlequin morph. Hope she/he is settling in well for you :)

Giant Asian - Opinions needed please

I have also done the tape method but it didn't work for me, but I might have found my too late. Hierodula are resilient though, I saw someone had one that grew back both its raptorials. Look up Legolas on mantis keepers :)

    Crestie!!

    Crestie!!

@MantisGirl13 you're welcome! Sounds like a good plan, only thing i will say is if you decide to go with fresh fruits, make sure you supplement roaches or add supplements to the fruits. Too often do I see people who think you don't need to provide calcium or vitamins and wonder why their lizards...

    Crestie!!

@MantisGirl13 not sure if they will be big enough to sex at your local Petsmart, but just make sure they are healthy and alert. I know some big chain pet stores take care of their reptiles but most of them don't and I have stop supporting Petco/Petsmart a long time ago. Gender will play a part...

    First Vivarium

@MantisGirl13 well I can think of two ways, one is to collect a bunch of wet leaf litter, rotten pieces of wood/bark and set it up in a container then put out a piece of mushroom in the container. Springtails LOVE eating mushrooms, this is what I feed my springtails. If there is any springtails...

    Crestie!!

Cresties are awesome! They are one of the first geckos I kept and breed, back in the day. Any idea if you are getting a male/female or what kind of morph you will be getting?

    First Vivarium

I never use wild springtails or isopods for fear of parasites/pesticide but that is because I am in the city. If you can find a wooded natural area, the best place to find them is under rotting logs. When I use to go look for Salamanders upstate I would often find tons of isopods/springtails...

    Charoozz's Mantis Collection

@MantisGirl13 thank you! I think the reason her ooth was so huge was because I was power feeding her the whole time the male mounted. I was so scare of her eating him that I was constantly throwing in flies non stop. She looked like she was gonna exploded before she laid that ooth.

    Charoozz's Mantis Collection

It's been a busy week so I haven't been on this forum much, but here's an update! The female spiny laid a really long ooth! Fingers crossed it is fertile: The female thistle molted to sub adult? I thought it was already a sub but I guess it was presub but now I can clearly see her...
