They also need a reasonable humidity level for the ootheca to even hatch.

    Rhombodera stalii

According to the official IGM list it is spelt Rhombodera cf. stalii so I would go with that :)

Breeding is hard.... for me at least

These are a very slow species to breed, I would suggest an in-cage method of putting the male in a good size enclosure, leave him a day to settle then introduce the female infront of him. Try to disturb the male as little as possible and give the female something to eat. They can take their...

    Chinese Ooth

No they are not a parthenogenetic species, if you want to breed her then you'll have to find a male :)

How long to get his mojo back?

Its possible that the mating was successful but I would try again as an hour may not be enough time :/

How long to get his mojo back?

HE'S ALIVE :D , he must of escaped from the enclosure(the netting wasn't 100% secure) as I just found him wandering on one of my snake vivariums. Must admit, I was supprised to find no trace of him left in the enclosure, normally a female won't eat the wings so just drop them to the floor...

    Fruit fly medium going pink

Thank you very much for taking the time to write that and for the great advice, I think the maggots are starting to take hold as the surface of the mixture is getting moved about quite well and the jar has quite a large amount of ventilation so hopefully the mold is under control. I haven't seen...

    Fruit fly medium going pink

I think i'll give it a day or too to show me some maggots(flies went in at the weekend), if I cant see any then i'll make a new culture. I've got an ooth due to hatch from the 19th of this month so i'm kinda worried i'm not gonna have any flies ready for them :/
