Hello all,

First post here but certainly not to be the last; I'm new to the scene but with a successful start thus far in this hobby. I've been a keeper of snakes and carnivorous plants for years now, only started with mantids about 2 months ago, but I'm happy to say I'm having success with 6 different species so far (one of my favorites pictured, Heterochaeta orientalis). I've already got ooths and baby mantids from another species (and there will likely soon be a sales post because I can't keep them all), and hopefully I can keep moving forward with other interesting species as time goes on.

Welcome! You got a nice looking Heterochaeta! I have always wanted to get one of those but their price and the fact that they get GIANT scares me off... don't know where I would put them in my already giant collection. What species of ooth do you have? If you have any questions feel free to ask!

Ironically, the Heterochaeta I got for free...

The ooths are from Elmantis sp., an African ground/bark mantis. Not a whole lot seems to be known about them, but they're ridiculously easy to care for as far as I can tell, eat anything slightly smaller than them.

Sweet! Those bark mantis are pretty dang cute! Did the Heterochaeta come with the ooths?

The ooths I have were produced by mantids that I've raised; those mantids were part of the purchase that included the Heteros, Pseudcreobotra wahlbergii, and Parasphendale affinis (the last I don't have anymore, sadly, waiting for an ooth to hatch to replace the female I had). A second ooth hatched today too, so I have a lot of nymphs now.

Haha that's some crazy stuff. Don't know if I would let my guy do that. But now that he has wings he'll decide I guess lol.
