This is a very cool pic! I understand that the gall wasp that emerges from this is a lot smaller than the grub. Is that yr experience?
BTW, did you know that Kinsey, the human sexuality researcher, was originally an expert on gall wasps, with a huge collection? Just thought that I'd let you know, now!

No I had no idea! In fact I had no idea what this was until I started investigating what these strange fruits on my live oak tree could be.... I kept a couple that fell to the ground, and am waiting to see if they emerge... It so strange and fascinating!
