Last summer we had Religiosas everywhere so I decided to keep a few and breed them. The results were 12 ooths all of which have yet to pop and reside in my garage. Over the winter I have looked everywhere for ooths while hunting, fishing, and walking the dog but never saw a single one.

Today I'm at the ATM while waiting in line I start to notice that attached to a small ledge of bricks encircling the facade of the building are 3 wild ooths. Perfect little 1.5 inch loaves of bread, none of them had popped yet. I have a small Gerber knife on my key chain and just couldn't resist. As I was removing the ooths I was thinking what I was going to tell the police if they showed up. So far they haven't knocked on my door so I guess I'm in the clear.

Naw! I just saw your face on " mantis most wanted thief" u r # one! omg! that s them ringing the bell now, go hide while screaming "feet don't fell me now" :tt2:

ps, if you see a rabbit and he says " hide in here" and it looks like an oven, don't get in it, and if he says it's safe , don't believe him, and if you do get in and the cops show u p and say, well maybe he's in the oven, and the rabbit says, now if he was in the oven, (& turns on gas &lights match) would I do this? (as he throws in the lighted match, don't believe him!

hey who of you guys, know the cartoon?

sounds like bugsbunny and daffy duck to me.

Ha, ha!! I haven't thought about that cartoon since I was a kid. I used to LOVE the really old ones, where Elmer was all doughy, and dopey(er). And Bugs was downright sinister! That style of fluid animation was glorious! I miss it.

haha, I thought it was bugs and daffy, but I could be wrong! :tt2: I still watch the cartoons when no one is around! I see it evey now and then, glad to see you guys did to. That was a good one.... Poof!

Driving from Oregon through Idaho I've seen droves of Mantis religiosa at gas station lights. Using the search function you can no doubt locate photos of the oothecae, as compared with Chinese mantises--the only other mantis of size ever seen out here in the NW. M. religiosa is much more common so I think you've got it right.

The great thing about Boise is the fact that you don't need to worry much over identifying Mantids. There is only species here M Religiosa, there were none a decade ago but they have become acclimated to colder climates and have moved north from California and Nevada.

Ya know, I wrote a very serious post and I really don't appreciate the fact that so many people have gone completely off-topic instead of being of serious!

 Just kidding....anybody getting ready to fire up the BBQ for the 2011 Q season? I know I am.
