Hatching my Chinese Ooth

Okay, I'm getting ready to hatch my Chinese ooth over the next few days. All I need to know is how long it should take to hatch if I incubate them at around 85 degrees Farenheit. Just so I don't give up on them after a while. Thanks.

BTW my experience keeping Chinese mantids is just going out and catching them. This will be my first time actually hatching them.

like 4-6 weeks and should mist them every other day and make sure they dont dry out!

Make sure you have the ooth in a BIG container. There will be 200-300 (or more) nymphs hatching out all at the same time. Good luck!

I think the container should be big enough. It's a twenty gallon aquarium. I already set it up with lots of stuff like moss for moisture, and dirt and grass for realism, along with lots of branches for climbing. I just started incubating them today.

Also, what's the minimum time it should take? It's just that I'm REALLY excited for my babies to hatch.

That sounds fine.... Just remember to seperate them after the second molt or so, or they may start eating each other

Minimum is MAYBE 3 weeks; usually 4 - 6 weeks. Your nymphs will be tiny when they hatch, so make sure the lid you're using is woven tight enough that fruit flies and nymphs can't get out. Normal screen has holes that are too big, and fruit flies can easily escape.

Yeah, I thought of the screen problem and solved it. I hot glued some tight netting onto the bottom of the screen so the ff's and nymphs can't escape.
