Hi all,

I'm new here. I love exotic insets (roaches :D ) and am hoping to get a mantis of some sort sometime. I live in Rancho Santa Fe, CA and have always had love in my heart for mantis, and I've always had them. However, about a year ago, I wanted a exotic but found them too expensive for me :( . Then, two days ago, while looking at Zephyr's roach list on this forum ,(the one at allpet roaches was outdated) I looked at the parts of the forum I could and remembered that I still wanted a mantis. Does anyone know a mantis that I would like? I would like a large mantis that's easy to care for. I can provide both flying and/or nonflying food, if that matters.

Anyways, thanks in advanced.

Welcome!

Plenty of choices in the "big and easy to care for" department. I'd say check www.mantisplace.com and go "window shopping". Pictures, prices, care and brief descriptions all in one place to help you decide.

BTW, I burst out laughing when I read your tagline: "When life offers you lemons, freeze them and throw them at people." Brrrrrrrilliant!

That took me a while to think up :D :D :D

Anywho I'm thinking about getting some Phyllovates chlorophaea (Mexican Unicorn Mantis)

Thanks.

Hello Hisseman, and welcome to the forum!

I love Phyllovates chlorophaea, and I've had good luck raising and breeding them. I think they would be an excellent choice... way cool too! I'd also recommend Hierodula membranacea (Giant Asian) or Rhombodera sp. (Giant Malaysian Shield) for a large beginner species. The Rhomboderas are very cool (I think) also! Best of luck to you whatever you decide to get. ;)

Ummm...you could also check out my site. www.mantispets.weebly.com

I don't have a whole lot yet, but I do have some nice, exotic & easy-to-care-for species (Ghosts come to mind!) ;)

Welcome to the forum, btw! I am also "into" roaches myself...Zephyr is a great person to buy them from! His stuff is always well-cared-for.
