For fun, I went out walking today to investigate the local wash, realizing its late for unhatched ooths and any mantids would be tiny. I did find this, which made my day!:

I assume this is a mantid ooth. I know I saw a different kind during the winter, so I'm still going to hunt more. Glad to confirm there are a few aroudn the park

Yes. A very very old one. Looks like Stagmomantis sp. but it might even be religiosa based on your location. Hard to say exactly from the overhead pic.
