Found this thing in my room just hanging out on the wall. Anyone know what kind it is?

The red fangs are pretty menacing!

It disappeared after I took these pics so if you don't hear from me you know what got me. :hang:

Oh Precarious, the quality of your pics always brightens my day!

I *looks* like a type of wolf spider (Lycosidae) but I'm not sure. If it is thier venom is harmless.

Regardless, what a gorgeous spider!

That is a pretty spider.

BugGuide.Net has some cool spider eye arrangement charts. With your great photos, you can probably easily compare eye arrangements and id your spider.

Actually, BugGuide.Net is a great site for identifying many North American arthropods.

Those guys (wolf spiders) are notorious for showing up in houses in new housing developments..... especially in Florida.... Probably because their natural habitats are ripped up, but several people I know, including my parents had wolf spiders in their new houses for like 5 years before they started to stop appearing...

Oh, and they hop, and they will and DO bite... I have had MANY wolf spider bites...

This looks kind of like a yellow sac spider (Cheiracanthium inclusum) they are considered medically significant and cause severe pain if they bite. Very cosmopolitan species.

I just checked some photos and I believe you are correct. I'd never seen one like this before and I've lived in this area my whole life.

Thanx!
