It is a Hierodula but i need to know which for breeding i can take more pictures if required.

Thanks

its hartd to tell fomr pics..Alot of the Hierodula species look the same.Hierodula solomonis - jade mantis.has it got shades of pink on its belly and wings?.are u in the uk?Where did u buy it from?

there is no pink that i can see. im pretty sure i got these from ian at insectstore but i cant be completely sure, and yes i am in the uk. i think i have got it wrong from a bit of research it does appear to be Sphrodomantis lineola is there any way i can tell for sure?

Sprodomantis Lineola i'd say, I also bought some from Ian a few months ago as a sphrodomantis ooth, i have 4 adult females and one crippled male if you in need of swaps.

If you look on the coxa there should be 4 white "dots" and the femur should be yellowish.

Mat.

ok if the prothoracic legs are the front ones that it uses to catch its prey then it does have four little white dots on the inside of them, and the femer and tibia have a yellow tint so i guess it must be a Sprodomantis Lineola im actually looking for a male. i posted in the wanted section that i wanted a giant asain male <_< thats what i remember buying, my memory isnt too good at the best of times.

I was thinking Sphrodomantis but in that first pic the thorax appears wide almost like a sheild mantis.

just checked out some pics of a shield mantis and its thorax isnt as wide as the pics ive seen, its probably just the bad quality of the pictures i took.

Shield mantids have a circular shield, that sphrodo`s more of an oval
