Kiet is a trustworthy breeder. I met him in person. I purchased 10 dead leaf mantis and he gave me extra plus feeders.  All nymphs came home healthy and growing. One molded the next day successfully.  I will definitely purchase from him again. Thank you, Kiet.

How do you count the abdomen for sexing?

Can someone show me a clear photo of how to count the abdomen for sexing the mantids? Do you count from the ventral or the dorsal surface of the abdomen? What about the last segment near the tail? Are there one or two sections? It is so confusing. Please help!

Second ooth hatched, but no sign from the 1st one?

My P. ocellata female laid her first ooth on May 4, 2008, and it has not hatched yet. Her second ooth was laid on May 14, 2008, and I got 7 nymphs on June 14, 2008; it took exactly one month to hatch. Obviously, she was fertiled, but what happened to the first ooth? Should I still have any...

    Ghost Subadult Pair

I see where is the problem: When Villosa post the sell for Ghost, I thought they were P. paradoxa. Villosa, if you use Idolomantis, the scientific name, I would already purchase them. In USA, Idolomantis is much more rare than P. paradoxa. Peter, if you want to sell the pair, I would buy...

I have an egg case of Chinese mantis produced approx. 80 nymphs hatching 2 weeks ago. The first week, about 10 of them died. I kept track on all accountable bodies, and thus far, I have 25 died. I even found dead ones after they molted into L2 nymph. I figure it is the law of "survival of...

Following the footstep of Great Yen
