Keep them well fed Becky and they should be okay.

Mantids get stuck to selotape even if there is a little. It could damage there bodies when you try get them off. It happend to me a long time ago when I first started.

Plastic cups Becky!!! :P Try focus for plexi glass. Just DON'T use selotape, anywhere! It doesn't end well.

Every time I try mate my H. Coronatus pair they spend atleast a day together and never connect. The male curls his abdomen round but on top of her wing case and the female doesn't help him. The female molted on the 20th April and the male molted on the 7th may. Am I trying too early?

Keep it about 24-27C and about 70% humidity(moist substrate/spray once a day), this seems to work for most tropical species. Good luck!

It shouldn't be, has it molted recently? Quite full looking? It maybe just about to molt they tend to stop eating before a molt. Does it take fruit flys? As James said, it could just be a wuss :lol: .

Generally if the bee is about a third of the size of the mantis it should be able to take it(some times larger), be careful though I had a P. Paradoxa bit by a bee the other week and she was oozing fluid for about a day after from her raptoral arm(shes better now). They have pincer-like mouths.
